JOANNA COBLENTZ Fashion Designer/Artist

At age 14 Joanna’s mother put her through modeling school, but it was art that took over when at age 18 she found herself teaching art to youngsters at a local Boys and Girls Club. She discovered a passion for teaching children and spent the next nine years teaching pre kindergarten. While teaching, Joanna began making purses and quilting as a hobby. She began taking special orders from friends and before she knew it, her passion for sewing was in full swing. In 2004 she changed careers to begin working with her family who own an optical practice and to pursue her own business as a designer and she hasn’t looked back.

In 2008 Joanna did her first fashion show with two other Florida designers for a show called “Reinventing the Noise” at Steel Can Alley in Sarasota and launched her business Dollface, Inc., a name taken from her alter ego Miss Dollface -- a name given to her by a dear friend. She produced her first solo show in April 2009 “Drop Dead Gorgeous Zombie Fashion Show” which featured her costume designs, live music and vendors all organized by Miss Dollface. Turnout for this show was impressive and after the success her my solo show, she decided that costume design and producing entertainment events was what she wanted to do as a full time occupation.

Joanna continues to put all her energy and passion into coordinating shows, designing clothes and rockin those stilettos! In October 2009 she did a “Dolls of the Dead Fashion Show” and in December 2009 she was hired to produce and create a “Steampunk” fashion show for Sarasota's Atomic Holiday Bazaar. Working on the designs for the steampunk show was such a success she continues to create steampunk fashions which will be available in spring 2010.
