Moved to St Pete at the age of 14 from New Hampshire.
My grandmother taught me how to knit and crochet at a young age. I started doing needle point and hook rugs in my 20's. I had fun dabbling with collage and decided to give mosaics a try. I love the textures and colors you can accomplish when working with mosaics. You are able to incorporate all kinds of items into the piece to create interest. I use recycled frames for wall hangings and recycled ceramic and glass in most pieces. I enjoy mixing stained glass pieces with ceramic for different heights and textures and going through old dishes and china at thrift stores for new pieces. I recently had a diseased tree cut down in my yard and a large piece of it was left behind. It looks like a pair of trousers so of course it will soon become mosaic garden art.
I work full-time as a paralegal in downtown St. Pete. Mosaics is a great creative outlet.
